Nora writes about her classes: I practice and teach from a
Vinyasa style of yoga, which involves linking several poses together, to
increase strength, flexibility, balance, focus, and body awareness. I focus on
smooth transitions between poses, to create a fluid, relaxing and safe experience
for each class participant.
I begin each class by
encouraging participants to turn our focus inward, listening to our bodies,
relaxing into our breath and giving our attention to the present moment. In our
busy lives, it is too common for us to externally focus on everything but our
bodies.
Yoga allows us to
momentarily slow the pace of our lives and take time to focus on ourselves,
thus allowing us to revitalize our mind and body. Yoga offers significant
benefits to our physical, emotional and cognitive health. These include, but
are not limited to; stronger muscles, increased flexibility, natural weight
loss, reduced stress, increase in focus and strengthened immune system.
About
her own journey: I began doing Yoga about 10 years ago and really dove into my
own personal practice during graduate school. I was working towards my master's
degree in Art Therapy. This was a time of great change and reflection for me
and Yoga seemed to be a natural fit into this time of transformation. My
coursework was very taxing both intellectually and emotionally. Yoga offered me
a sense of relief and an escape. It was a time when I could shut out my worries
and stress and focus on me. For the last 10 years, Yoga has continued to offer
me that respite and has changed my life in so many ways. I feel healthier in
mind, body and soul. I am stronger now than I ever was when I was younger and
involved in competitive sports. I am more focused and able to handle all the stress
life hands out to me. And, I relate to people in my life with more love and
patience.
Please feel
