Yoga and Ayurveda for the Uninitiated with Heidi Friederich & Molly Oliver (Summer 2010: Molly is away attending school to advance her training.) Mondays, 10 am -12 noon. Summer session runs July 19-August 23.
Enter a welcoming environment to learn Yoga’s beginning poses and the basics ofAyurveda, the ancient system of self-healing. This class is especially designed to introduce very beginning students to these proven wellness tools. If you ever have wanted to try yoga but thought you couldn’t because you would be too inflexible, uncoordinated, out of shape, not strong enough, not cute enough, etc. … well, this is the class for you. Yoga and Ayurveda can be applied almost anywhere, anytime, with great results. All you need for this class is the desire to try something new.
About the class: Each class is two hours long. The first hour will include gentle yoga poses and relaxation techniques. The second hour explores yoga in relation to individual Ayurvedic body types, as well as simple ways to increase energy and rest more deeply. Please
come to class with an empty belly (3 hours after a big meal, 1-2 hours
after a snack). Wear comfortable, loose, stretchy clothes you can move
in. We will be barefoot for the yoga practice, but you will want a pair
of cozy socks for the resting poses. All the yoga props you need are
available at the studio, no need to buy any special equipment. (If you
do have your own yoga or Pilates mat, feel free to bring it.)
Cost: $20 for individual classes. Discounts for 7- or 8-week session. In order to give each participant individual attention, class size may be limited. For more information, contact Heidi at heidihihi@juno.com or 585.244.3262. New sessions are scheduled to begin September 13, and November 8. Please contact Heidi in case of scheduling changes.
