4th Saturday of the month, 9:30 am - 12 noon.  See Upcoming Events for dates.

Authentic Movement is a subtle yet powerful therapeutic practice that allows individuals to explore the relationship between the creative, psychological, and sacred dimensions of their experience, through bodily expression.

Your body is a direct link to your subconscious.  In the practice of Authentic Movement, you attune to the subconscious realm and move to its subtle expressions. These may come into your awareness as sensations or imagery -- much the way dreams reflect your emotional and spiritual life.  As you finish moving, you are invited to put these images, thoughts or feelings onto paper as an avenue to sharing your experiences with others to crystallize and clarify what you have just experienced.

The Authentic Movement process includes active "witnessing".  The witness's role is to accept the mover without speaking, offering interpretations or giving advice, except if or when the mover asks for a response.  The witness thus receive the mover's expression and provides a "safe container”. The mover learns to be seen, maintaining self-reference while focusing freely and deeply into his or her inner wisdom.  The witness learns to be fully present to another without critique. A sense of deep acceptance develops in the mover from the validation that comes from being wholly seen.

You may discover a new peacefulness, with fresh insights that carry over into your everyday life.  This replenishes you physically, opens you emotionally and deepens your relationships.

Open to everyone; no previous experience required. For more information or to register, contact Carolee at 585-624-2776 or innerdance@aol.com.
